Custom Trading Pins
Made popular by baseball and softball tournaments,
trading pins have become staples at sports tournaments world-wide.
“Trading day”
is often the highlight of the tournament for players. In fact, most
players will continue to trade pins with their friends the entire
week of the tournament, making new friends and trading your team’s
unique pin until they leave.

First time ordering Trading Pins? Here are some
important tips:
ORDER PINS EARLY!!!
Waiting too long and not getting pins on time is the most common
mistake made by first-timers. Keep in mind that trading pin season
is the BUSIEST time for all pin companies. It is much better that
you have your pins a few weeks early than having to ship the pins
to your hotel the night before the tournament. If you aren’t
sure you’ll make the tournament, you should order some pins
anyway! Just make sure there is no date, and your team can use the
pins next year in the event that they don’t qualify this year.
Make sure there are only
a few people in the decision process
Even those who start the design process early can have a “mad
dash” to get their pins if there are too many people involved.
It is impractical if the design has to go back and forth to all
12 players and their parents for each revision. Typically, it is
advisable for 1 parent and the coach to make the decisions for the
pin design.
Make sure your trading
pins aren’t too small
Since bigger trading pins are in high demand at tournaments, the
typical size is much
larger than a standard lapel pin. Trading pin size is at the MINIMUM
1.5 inches.
However, most teams will order anywhere from 1.75-2.5 inch pins.
Keep in mind that an additional ¼ inch doesn’t seem
like much, but it increases the surface area of your pin up to 25%.
An additional ½ inch can increase the surface area of your
pin up to 40%!
Order enough pins for each
player
Typically, each player needs about 35-50 pins for a good trading
pin experience. Keep in mind that most players will trade with others
not in their age bracket, so don’t base the number of pins
only on the number of teams you will play.
